Broken throttle cable connection

I was preparing to start the port engine on my 1989 32 sedan yesterday and pumping the throttle a few times. That sides throttle/cable has always been considerably tighter/harder to move. The small, black, plastic piece that threads onto the end of the cable and then snaps (I believe) into the bottom of the throttle lever broke. Unfortunately, while unscrewing the remaining piece from the cable I managed to drop it under my flybridge and cannot locate it to take a pic. Two questions. Does anyone know what to call or where to get this small plastic piece? Also, any advice on dealing with the stiff moving cable? Do I just need a new one, or is there a way to free it up? Thanks for any advice.

My experience has been on all my boat cables is in the long run you will end up replacing them.

Good morning fellow M owners! I put the boat up this Fall with the broken throttle cable end on the flybridge. Obviously, this needs to be one of my many Winter/Spring projects. I would like to get the cables ordered, but, I'tothinking that using the old ones to pull the new up/down through is the best method. So, my question is where can I get the specs on my cables (exact type including length and end type)? Can anyone direct me to what/where to order? Thanks

The cable sleeve has the numbers stamped on it.
I went to a local Teleflex dealer and he ordered new cables for me.
Teleflex is now SeaStar.

You could try contacting Sea Star or maybe West Marine could cross reference the numbers for you?

when I was still working on boats we only used the teleflex number stamped on the original cable when replacing. If my memory serves me correctly. I would think any boat shop would be able to find a replacement for you.

Ok....so I went up and pulled the cables down from the bridge and I do now have the numbers from the cable and know what to order for replacements. BUT, this leads me to another question. What broke was the small, black, plastic piece that connects the cable to the bottom of the throttle assembly. I have saeched around but am unable to find this small part. Any suggestions? Or am I likely going to have to buy a new Morse throttle assembly and just replace the whole thing?

Any of the ones I have seen have been made out of brass. Where ever you order the cables from should be able to order the cable end.
