This topic is a redirect from " Rebuild a Kohler 7.5R generator" http://marinetteboat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2002

This will cover the build of a "portable" LiFePo4 lithium battery whose intent is to be used on our 41' Marquis and a popup camper. That's why it's called "portable. It's assumed (terrible word... ) that if we're on the boat (it's most needed locale), we won't be needing it on the popup camper - and - when we're using the popup camper, the boat will be at the dock with a stable shore power supply.

I'm including a series of pics and other information should there be someone inclined to build their own battery.
Battery specs:
- 280Ah
- 12 volt
- 110AC usage - via a Xantrex 2000W inverter / charger with wired remote unit

Intended use - to power the boat's and camper's (depending on usage) refrigerator(s) 2 on boat - 1 on camper
Wattage requirements -
Main boat fridge/freezer - 4.8Cu ft Magic (75w)
Upper station fridge/freezer - (70w)

Popup - 1.9 Mini fridge/freezer - 75w

Additional AC power needs COULD be utilized, but the intent is to stretch battery power for the fridges/freezers.

In either case there will be several days available power solely from the battery.
** There will be several alternative sources to recharge the battery:
(this is just for the boat. The popup is a separate listing. Ask if you'd like more info.)
- AC Shore Power/Genny via the Xantrex inverter charger,
- Engine alternator power via connection to the house battery that feeds a 20Amp DC to DC Victron charging unit,
- Solar power via 2 - 200W solar panels

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Bill

Battery is a self contained unit utilizing the LiFePo4 cells (4 - 280Ah), a Daly 250A BGMS (battery Management System (BMS = MUST HAVE!), Victron BMV-712 (Shunt - battery monitoring system <w/ corded meter/display, 2-0 AWG cables to connect to Inverter, 2-0 AWG cables to connect 4 lug positive and 4 lug negative wiring blocks, 200 Amp ANL fuse, 40A Renogy Solar controller, misc SS lock nuts, bolts, washers.
If I've overlooked anything, I'll edit this post with a noted addendum.
LiFePo4 cells purchased from 18650batterystore.com . Great prices. Located in US. Quick delivery.
Note - the battery lugs on top of the cells offer a better connection system (2 screws / single lug).

2nd pic - Frontal view - lid open
Note battery connection lugs in lid (left side). 2-0 AWG battery cables will run to inside connection points to the appropriate ( + or -) bus bars. Outside lugs will have 2-0 AWG cables running to Xantrex 2000w inverter/charger's DC Input connection points.

You'd need a dumpster for the lead acid batteries to equal that beauty!

I'm puzzled at why the pix rotate when you click on them to expand the view. By the way, Bill, I thought you could put multiple pix in one post.
