Re: Low Engine Power, White Smoke
Hey Jeff, I did do a compression test. I don’t have the exact numbers on me, but all cylinders were within the Chrysler specs in the original manual (100-120 I believe) I’ll test vacuum from a choke pull off port. What’s a respectable vacuum goal for carb adjustments? Do I adjust timing then carb? O...

Re: Low Engine Power, White Smoke
Got it. I’ll get a gauge and try that. I did verify that I am timing from the correct marking on the fly wheel. I will use vacuum to adjust the carb and timing further. Is there a best place to hook up a gauge? I’m assuming this must be done directly from the manifold and not from a port on the carb...

Low Engine Power, White Smoke
First, I will say me and these 318's have come a long way together. I feel like I am SO CLOSE to getting them running perfectly. There was a time that I couldn't keep them running at low RPM. I did the following upgrades and they have idled wonderfully since: Installed Performance Distributors DUI i...

Possibly unburned fuel vapor. Does your exhaust smell rich?

Re: Stumped - Fuel Delivery Issue
Ok. To close out this issue... the brand new Sierra mechanical fuel pump was shot after a couple hours of running. In the process of trying to start the motor, I fried the starter solenoid and possibly the battery too. Either way, I replace the solenoid with the spare, new fuel pump, checked the ant...

Re: Stumped - Fuel Delivery Issue
I have a Sierra screw on style fuel filter. The Perko has been removed just to rule that out. Thanks for the suggestions from everyone. I finished off my already dying starter in this process, so it’s getting rebuilt / replaced now. I’ll try some of the recommendations next week.

Re: Stumped - Fuel Delivery Issue
Thanks for the feedback. The brand new fuel pump was tested and it’s definitely bad after 3 hours of use. With the new fuel pump, I’m wondering if running the carb dry and also replacing f the fuel / water filter (and having that dry) is too much air for the pump to overcome to achieve a good prime....

Re: Stumped - Fuel Delivery Issue
Definitely not a shutoff, but the pump may be installed wrong.

Stumped - Fuel Delivery Issue
I am most definitely stumped. Here are the facts: The anti-siphon check valve is good and working properly. I am able to easily manually pull fuel from suction hose just before it goes into the fuel pump. I have no fuel being delivered past the fuel pump. The final fuel canister filter was replaced ...
