Re: Interior woods/ ways to tell difference between teak and mohogany

The best way to tell if its teak is to scuff it with a coarse grit sandpaper and smell the area you have sanded it should smell almost exactly like shoe leather.
If you do a fair amount of sanding the dust will appear damp and clump together from the natural oil in the wood

Re: updating wiring

The a.c. ground if there is one with the romex mess would go right back to shore based on what we found repairing the a.c. on my dad's boat you don't want that as previously discussed. If its any different I'd look for a galvanic isolator I doubt you have one based on the condition of the shore powe...

Re: updating wiring

I second that on the romex when we redid the 32 it was a horror show romex wire bent around hard edges it's a miracle no one got blasted out of their shoes climbing on the boat because there was no ground connected to the hull at all! I know it's a pain but your way better off removing all that and ...

Re: re wiring DC

You never know what you'll find on a dc system once you start pulling wire I see a lot of dumbfounded head shaking in your future haha! As far as the trim tab hydraulic pump we used 10 gauge wire Check out blue sea systems for panels if you happen to need any, really well worth the money cleans up t...
