I noticed that the Warner Velvet Drive owners manual, section IV, winter storage, recommends:
"Loosen attaching hardware from transmission output flange and propeller shaft coupling before removing boat from water and separate flanges"
Does anyone do this?

Never have done that and never had an issue.

Wouldn't hurt to disconnect the shaft but nobody does. I think this would be much more important with a wooden hull because they flex so much. Plus it's easy to put it in the manual, harder to do.--Ed

Thanks for your feedback. I won't be doing this.

My feeling is this lay-up recommendation could potentially cause more problems than preventing them!
