If you go with a one wire alternator, the regulator is no longer needed-- just wire the red wirer right to the battery.

That regulator's hot-in-run circuit wire can be used for many purposes. I used it on mine to turn on a relay that allowed ne to run only one motor without the low oil pressure alarm going off.

I have this circuit diagramed somewhere if anyone wants to try it.

You are correct on the one wire alternator, and on the orange wire. I just bought my Marinette 32 back in July of this year and I'm in the process of going through all of the systems to upgrade or repair. When my alternators go, I will be replacing with one wire style as well to simplify. I have many more videos coming one will be posted this afternoon, On fuel sending unit check and fuel sending replacement with aftermarket sending unit. Thanks for watching and remember "Boating is a passion not just a weekend trip" boats require a lot of maintenance to keep them operating properly.
