Window and Tint removal

Post by MissConduct »

The tint on all of my windows is bubbling and looks terrible. How do I remove the windows so I can remove the window tint or replace the windows? Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

Hello, I made the same mistake using tinted film on my windows . It looked good for a couple of years but soon turn into a scratched bubbly mess.

 Now would be a good time to think about installing the screen on the inside track.
:!: This would requiring switching all port and starboard tracks :!:

The tracks are held in place by flat head screws. Remove the three or four bottom screws.

Depending on who installed the tracks, maybe they used caulking? Caulk is highly recommended. :geek:

If so use a putty knife under the track and the aluminum edge it sets on. once the seal is separated slide both windows to center along with screen.

Another person would be a good idea for the next step. ;)

Grasp the windows and screen on each end and slowly pull the lower track out while holding all the windows and screen together. :?

Slowly lower the package to the deck surface. I did this on my 37' by myself. Not recommended.

Note.
My tracks are original and are plastic. I took a sharp utility knife and removed just enough of the rib holding the glass and screen With the glass and screen centered in the opening. This enables me to remove the screen and the glass individually. ;) If they are Aluminum tracks you could make a fixture and use a router to cut the center rib section out.

Thanks Bill. I have some other issues to tackle with the engines first, but will give it a try! Appreciate it!

Try pricking the bubbles with a tiny pin or sewing needle to let the air out,

Thanks. That might help for temporary fix until I can get them all removed and replaced!
