Has anyone added a second fuel filler port?

Post by garycarroll »

Fuel filler is on port side, as usual. Boat lift configuration means a filler port on starboard side would be very nice. This seems like an easy thing to do, conceptually. Has anyone done it or know reasons why this is a bigger deal than I think?

You have twin engines, don't you have a fuel tank for each engine with a fuel port on each side?

I think some of the older 32's had single tanks, I'm sure some owners can confirm this.

Our 75 Express has one large tank, fill is on the port side. Shouldn't be to hard to add one to starboard, where the elbow connects to the tank replace with a tee, a filler for the deck and hose to each filler port. Sounds simple, may be simpler to add more nozzle hose, and cheaper.

My 1968 Express has twin 318's but one large 125 gallon tank, which fills on the port side.. That big tak sits across the mid- aft bilge, and runs side to side.. However, my 87 Sedan has twin 360's and two 100 gallon tanks. One for each side, running fore and aft.. I would like to trade the 100 gallon tanks to anyone who has 125 or 150 gallon tanks, and wants more room in the bilge, if they would fit.!

Changing tanks down there could be a nightmare! Is it that inconvenient to to fuel from the "wrong" side?

I've decided to fix this by changing boat lift placement. While adding a second filler would not be that difficult, leaving the boat as is is preferred, I think. THanks for the suggestions.

Smart move! It's easier to raise the drawbridge then lower the river.
