Striping

Post by Disturbedwrench »

Anyone got any good tips or methods of laying out the strips on a express? I’m not to sure of my taping skills.

Measured from the bow to the stern every foot from the bottom of the rub rail to the bottom of the stripe, it taper's, not only did I write it down I snapped pictures with my phone. Tape the bottom and top, use a good quality tape, paint and let dry to manufactures instructions, don't do like I did and rush the second coat, you'll end up with a gooey mess. After it has dried lay down another line of tape the width of the base color to the bottom of the accent stripe and lay your accent stripe just above the tape, then peel off the spacing tape, it will give you prefect spacing, this method also works for the top, used 3M reflective striping tape for the accent stripe. Just take it slow don't think there any real short cuts.
