Bridge gauges
Bridge gauges
I’m new to the site. 1st post. I have a 32’ 1979 sedan I just purchased and redoing some things on. My question is does anyone know or have pictures of what these screws around the top and sides of my gauges were or were used for?
Re: Bridge gauges
I have seen a 37" that had plexiglass covers bent at 90* to keep the gauges protected from water.

That’s what I was thinking or something along that line
Re: Bridge gauges
I have seen some models with the Plexiglas covers, and some without. I could never make heads or tails over what constituted that option. Or even it it was factory? Its not a bad idea, i assume as it ages the gauges probably were hard to see and thus removed

Re: Bridge gauges
I just bought a 1987, 32 sedan bridge and my gauges are exposed to the weather, mounted on a marine board, { Black } with four machine thread screws in the corner's..

Re: Bridge gauges
I found these stashed on the boat. No cracks but really turned yellow. Working thru sanding grits 320 to 3500 then polished is bringing them back and looking pretty good. I’ll post a photo when the gauge cluster and the painting is done. Thanks!

Re: Bridge gauges
Once they are clean, you can use Lemon Pledge on them. It has a wax in it that will hide tiny scratches and keep dust from sticking. Good for sunglasses, motorcycle helmets, airplane windshields, any plastic lens. Just wash with soap and water first, then seal with the Pledge.

Re: Bridge gauges
Just curious, When you have all your gauges removed, and ignition switches on the bridge will the boat still start and run?
Will be transporting mine in the spring, I was wondering if they launch it right as it comes off the truck if i would run. Or Do i have to reinstall the bridge first?
Any insight is appreciated.

Re: Bridge gauges
If you removed the bridge to transport her over land, I'm not so sure if you would want to turn on the master power switches with all those loose wires on the roof (bridge), unless all those hot ends were taped off with electrical tape !! If so, then yes it should run, as I can tell you from my 1975 model that each helm is wired individually and do not depend on each other for the boat to run.
