I believe that I might have figured it out and it is a pretty logical explanation. I believe that I have a cracked riser on that manifold.
When I removed the elbow from my exhaust and fired up the engine, the very front valve in the location that was getting really hot had water shoot out of it. I removed the manifold and that was the only riser that had any sort of water. I have a replacement on the way and I will be putting it on next week. Hopefully I get this thing fixed before next Weds as we have a festival on the river to go to.

Compression looks good--don't sweat that 120 reading.
The exhaust manifold at the bottom (where the ports are) always gets that way. The paint is short lived and rust appears. If the manifold at the top gets over 150-160 degrees, however, there's something wrong.

Didn't take a super long trip today but long enough to get them hot. Manifolds were at 110-120.

Took the boat home after the festival the engines got a decent workout. Everything is good now.

Took about a four hour trip on the boat. It ran great! No issues at all.

Glad you got it straight!
I just had my port side exhaust hose split at the manifold in a pretty dramatic fashion. Had to wrap it with a silicone tape and put a bucket under it to crawl back home. It did make a brief screeching noise before it blew but water was still flowing from the exhaust. Was cruising at about 3k when it happened.
That side always felt warmer during operation but my gage didn't indicate an overheat condition like it did when my belt broke. In the thread, there is mention of an oil cooler filter? Where would that live so I can check it? Also, should I pull the manifold to see what it looks like in there?
