The OEM Perkos are still a great water separating and particle filter. No reason to change to spin on type filters. The filter stones in the Perkos are still available and last a LONG TIME. I replaced mine but they still were probably just fine.

safe boating,

The Marinette manual doesn't mention changing the filter. I think it can be cleaned somehow but they seem to last a long time without special maintenance.

Hi. Just saw this thread. Hope this helps canister style filters with 5/16 threaded ends are hard to find. The chrylser part number is 4142597-1. Most places can cross this number. It is discontinued from Chrysler.

I replaced the perko fuel filters on our boat with Sierra spin on fuel filters because I was having a hard time finding the replacement elements for the perko unit. So now I can go to most any auto parts store to buy replacement filters for approx. $10.00 each. I have left two voice mails at (Hurrikans) recently with no return phone call. I used gas rated fuel line with two hose clamps at each connection to connect them back into the copper lines. So when we winterize at the end of each season these will get replaced.
