ATF 89 28 ft express
Port Transmission has a small fluid leak . But it's time for this seasons fluid change. What ATF do you suggest. I have 1,200 plus hours on the engines.
Thanks Steve

Re: Recommended fluids
Check transmission manual. I doubt it's ATF, My Twin Disk use 40 weight or diesel engine oil.

Re: Recommended fluids
thanks for the reply.
its a velvet drive. i know its a ATF. I was just wondering if a specific type would help with a leaking issue. A high mileage or something. i know cars have a fix a leak. i have not considered or tried anything like this. A buddy of mine has a car repair shop - he is a fan of the Lucas products.

Re: Recommended fluids
Velvet Drive Use any of the Dextron I , II, II etc ATF
I change tran fluid every 50 hrs. I pump out the dip stick hole. I do not drop the cooler. Changing every 50 hrs will keep recyle it through without dropping and draining lines. IMHO additives for leaks are a poor band aid fix if any. They can cause more problems to these reverse gears than any small leak!

Re: Recommended fluids
Dave is correct (of course). Dextron III is what manual calls for. Uses see as my Toyota Tundra..
Convenient for me buying the same fluids I would not put additives in.. A small leak is no problem.. Just Ck your fluid and put a soak pad under it

dextron iii
should I use a "high mileage" style or just a regular major brand like castrol
