Raw Water Pump Rebuild?

Post by GregM »

Engine started to over heat on my last outing and found the raw water pump not turning. It appears the bearings went out. I have pulled it and am looking for advice on rebuilding it. I see kits for 139 and replacement units for over 300. It looks like I need a puller to get the bearing housing and bearings off the shaft since the pulley appears welded in place? I'll take any advice you guys have to offer? Thanks in advance!

Do yourself a HUGE favor and do NOT rebuild the pump. Buy a new one (not much more $$).

Trust me on this!

Jeff beat me to the punch - I was going to say the same thing last night. It's too critical an item to gamble with relatively small cost savings.

Has anyone used this guy in Illinois, Rawpumps.com? Claims complete rebuild bearings and all for $275.00. He also advertises on Ebay.

Water pump came in very good quality. Engine runs better then ever since rebuild. Thinking the odd noises I was hearing were the bearings on the pump wearing out since engine replacement. I would buy from rawpump.com again!
