Oil Filter Adapter plug?
Oil Filter Adapter plug?
Should this plug be removed before installing the oil filter adapter? See attachment
Re: Oil Filter Adapter plug?
That plug stays in. The bypass is built into the filter housing.

Re: Oil Filter Adapter plug?
Thank you EWRice for the confirmation and piece of mind! This is my second go at replacing the motor I was hoping this wasn't something I over looked on the previous motor that broke a valve that destroyed the piston in cylinder 1. Is it safe to assume that other oil passage plugs that come installed in a rebuilt motor should not need removed?
Re: Oil Filter Adapter plug?
The only oil passage that you should have to worry about is the one for the sending unit next to the distributor.
