I need to repack the stuffing boxes on a 1984 28 Express, 11 ft beam, twin 318s
Have not done this before- looks very very tight to reach, esp since I am large
Any feedback from those with experience? How difficult to reach?
What packing material do you recommend ? Any concerns with graphite?

Re: Prop Shaft Seal question
Coastie, did you ever get the seal figured out? I just came across this video while researching what I may need to do for my soon-to-be boat. This company recommends 1" of compression and they say if that's not enough, add in 1/4" increments until the leak stops. Yours is likely similar, but worth checking out what the mfgr recommends.

Re: Prop Shaft Seal question
Doubt you have that kind of seal. Looks like a "dripless seal" . You should have a simple shaft seal with some packing. Any plumbing or marine store will have the packing and info. Hardest part is getting to it, but very simple technology. PM me if you have questions.--Ed
