Paint scheme

Post by shade2u2 »

I'm going to be doing some painting on my 39 over the next year. The railing is currently black as the boat is in the process of transitioning to blue trim.
I was considering adding a 3rd color for the railing. I'm am thinking of going with red for the railing and maybe some red in the boat name. I think that I will also make the side of the cabin all white without any stripe. I am also looking at putting one of these Marinette logo's in red on the side forward of the window.
What do you think? I haven't seen it done.
Here is a crappy image of what I am thinking.

That is startling contrast. Since you asked, it doesn't appear to fit well. If it were me - it isn't - I'd stick with the main hull trim color or search for "what goes well with blue?" The colors that come up include gray and purple. Also a difference shade of blue. But not red. Orange also is the complementary color but it would look awful (to me). All this is not relevant if you are trying to make a statement at the marina.

Thank you Joel.
Maybe I should have stated, this isn't the red I would use. I just edited a pic that I had to show what I thought about painting red. I would probably go with a deeper red. I kind of like red white & blue... but what do I know. I would like to redo it all in red but the canvas is pretty new.
Anyway, I'm just thinking and looking for opinions. I've never seen a big M with 3 colors...

Be advised that the reds and oranges fade quickly. Plus they cost a lot more.
Me, I just have a fishing boat.

Black and blue? I was that a few times from working on mine!

Personally, I'd stay with just one color. Traditional and good looking.
