flow meter

Post by kgrove70074 »

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive flowmeter and sensor to use on our boat? Just want something to show gal. per hour usage.

BigM Hi I don't think there are many choices out there. After some research I wound up installing a floscan system. I removed the port and starboard tach's and in their holes I installed a twin scan tach and in one and a twinscan fuel flowmeter in the other. Your chartplotter or GPS has to be able to talk to or supply a speed single to the system to get miles per gallon. The peace of mind of knowing exactly how much fuel you have burned and how much is left is a very nice thing to have.

Thanks for the info Bill and Harry. I do have GPS capabilities with my Lowrance but I was looking for something less elaborate than connecting into this. I just wanted to know gal per hour used and then estimate MPG from my current tach and speed and distance covered on my GPS. Trying to find something not to expensive but still useful to find most effient RPMs. I have looked into the ones you mentioned Bill and was wondering if anyone was using these.
