Carburetor replacement

The Rochester quadrajet (# 17086115) from my 1988 Marinette Chrysler 318 was so pitted inside that it could not be rebuilt. I was going to replace with a Edlebrock 1409 but was talked out of it due to required mods and extra cost over direct Rochester replacement.
I searched the web by my carb part number and found a replacement for only $335 and ordered.
I just received it and it is instead a Carter that is stamped as made for GMC. It has the following numbers, CJ3, 7047186, and a circled R.

Is anyone here an expert about this that can tell me if this will work fine or if I should send it back?
Thank you,
Robert.

Call the vendor first and discuss the discrepancy. Often, a parts dept staffer will have valuable info. It may have been a mistake or is an acceptable substitute.

And it MUST be a marine carb--they may have got that wrong as well.

Running an automotive carb is dangerous since it does not flood internally.
