The flame arrestors are legended 250

Post by semperfive »

Small block Chryslers in a mid eighties 32 express have flame arrestors labeled 250 on each one. What displacement does that suggest they are ? 340 or 360 ? My dock mate (there are four Big M units on my dock alone, three 32's and my little 28) and I both want to know. Thanks very much.

Being mid 80's I would say they are 360. I dont think the 340's were built after about 1975. Their should be a tag , and you should be able to read the side of the block. It will be casted 360 . The 340 was rare. Joe

Chrysler Series 250 engines are 318ci @ 240hp.
Not sure what the "250 Series" stood for.
Our 1989, 28 had twin 250 Series engines.

It seems a majority of the 32' had the 318ci. I think the 360ci engines were a factory option.

My current 1986, 32' has 360ci Chrysler and turns a 16x16 prop. I think the 32' with 318ci turns a slightly smaller prop??

Thanks guys. I appreciate the responses. I Googled the question and was directed to the Marinette site which said that the 360 cid block came in 250 hp and 330 hp versions. So, I believe the question has been settled.

360ci Chrysler also came in 275HP. That is what is in our 1986, 32' sedan.

I wonder what a pair of 360's might do in my 28 express. Oh, well. Maybe if both my 318's blow up simultaneously. Nah. They ain't gonna.
