Play in the shaft fore and aft?

Post by Skipper3 »

My port shaft has about 1/2" of play for and aft. It does not seem like the two pinch bolts on the coupling are grabbing it. I've backed the coupling off of the flange to see if it slips right off(shaft coupling side), of course it does not. If I drive the shaft up as far as it will go it will still slip back almost .5" with ease. Think I have a worn coupler or even a shaft that has worn end?

Yikes! Keep it out of reverse or....

You might need to buy a different coupling, the kind that lets you pinch clamp I to the shaft. Forgot where I got mine but an internet search should do it.
