Oil leak - good & bad

Post by shade2u2 »

I have an oil leak at back of motor. It looked like it was coming from inspection flap on bell housing.
That's bad as I thought rear main seal.
I just found that oil is leaking from an oil sending unit. I used this cheap endoscope that hooks to my phone to find it. I recommend these things.
That's good compared to the rear main.
Where can I get this guy?

That seems like an unfortunate place to have an instrument! I have a Carter that is kind of like that except it has three connection prongs. Mine is on top of the engine. It's a go/no-go for the retrofit electric fuel pump. No oil pressure, no fuel pump.

Very common for these sensors to leak. (Have replaced several myself) They are a common item at NAPA. They made two a long one and a short.
Buy the shorter one if at all possible! I keep a couple of spares on the boat. The long one is a tight fit it gets in the way of my Distributor on the port engine. Your photo shows the short one.

Also look at that tiny hose that transfers (on some Mopars) pressure from the engine to the oil pressure manifold.
