Ever notice how dark colored boat are much more visible at a distance? So why are so many boats painted white?

"White, white the body shop delight; covers every screw up in sight!" This is especially true with mass produced fiberglass boats. Paint a decent looking white boat (or car) black and you'll get seasick eyeballing the hull!

A friend of mine was repainting a yacht in the sixty five foot range. This was a high end vessel and he wanted to go dark blue metallic. I believe he told me it took around 20 gallons of filler to fair each hull side. White has its pros.

And from having a boat with a dark blue hull, I can tell you that you can see every scrape and ding. Sure you can touch up the paint, but it's obvious. (At least to me. Everyone else thought it looked great.) I also buffed out the finish every fall and followed up with a wax job in the spring.

Good luck.
