If you're ambitious, the center of that cable can be withdrawn, cleaned and lubed, then reassembled.

50/50 Marvel mystery oil and atf,Use a pump garden sprayer attached to helm end of cable with hose clamps.Pump up and wait for it to migrate to rudder end and start working it back and forth.I use a wash tub to catch all the mess coming out of end.Clean and grease gearbox(sometimes the gearbox grease is the whole problem!!)

Hey, that's how we used to lube motorcycle cables! And it works fine.

With 20 plus feet of cable for the oil to migrate through, it could take several hours so be patient.
