Easy to learn, lots of on line help. I never sewed except darning my socks in the Coast Guard. If I can, You can.

Wayne, That's what I'm doing. I watched the sailrite videos too. The guy at the sewing store told me to look for a Singer 301 built in the 50's, they are direct drives, no plastic gears, capable of doing canvas work. I found one on ebay and just took it in for cleaning and tune up. I've never sewed before either.

I broke down and bought a Singer 301 also. Time go start studying and learning how to sew.

Get a machine that doesn't rattle and clatter when it runs fast and learn how to adjust and thread the bobbin.The bobbin tension is the little screw. When top and bottom tensions are right they are equal and the stitch is looped in the middle of the material. No loops on top, no loops onthe bottom. --Ed
