Under Hardtop trim

Post by EWRice »

When I aquired my '72 32 Express, the previous owner had replaced the factory ceiling under the hardtop with a tongue and groove varnished wood. Actually looks pretty good, but he never put the perimeter trim back up. I am questioning weather I even have all the pieces. Does anybody have any pictures of what the trim layout is for this boat?

Still looking for info on this if available. Also, what was the original ceiling material?
Thanks

Mine is a 1968 but it matches the ceiling in the cabin. Perforated holes on a white vinyl. The trim on mine is teak , approximately 4 pieces one on each side two on the back.

Same as meltonhill's. mine's a 73. Ceiling must have been put on before the pipe carrying the wires and cables to the FB. Best pics I can find. 2 pieces with the white trim in middle hiding the seam, The teak has the snaps for the canvas on the sides. 2 pieces across the front.

Rob, that is sharp looking. That is the result I am working towards. I like the varnished wood around your windshields.

Rob, you boat looks like mine. I also had windshield wiper on driver's side only. I found the factory put a wire on the other side also. If you want, easy to put another one on the other side. Buy a wiper motor with the longest shaft possible, and a wiper arm and blade. --Ed

Hey Ed I'll have to check for that extra wire. I have to find a replacement blade for the drivers side. Haven't searched that hard though.
Thanks EWRice I need to replace the ceiling it's getting rot around the edges. I like the idea of a varnished wood and adding an access door for the electronics.

Rob,
My wipers use standard automotive style blades. I don't know if my arms are original though.

The previous owner used tongue and groove pine under my hardtop. Wainscoting I think. Good try, but he fell short of getting it right. I have a few things to fix. Looks good though.
