Im going to purchase a 28' sportsman this weekend, I've been around boats my entire life, this is the first Marinette I'll own. Are there any common trouble areas I need to look out for other than corrosion? I'm not worried about anything non-structural, I'm more concerned with making sure the hull is solid and all the major components are in good working order.
Thanks,
Rob
What to look out for when buying..
Re: What to look out for when buying..
Save yourself the trouble of finding hidden problems later and get a survey. Make an offer contingent upon survey results. It's a common practice. It will be the best $500 you spend. A condition and value survey will be required for insurance purposes. It will save you time in the future.

Rob,
Take Eric's advice but tell the seller one thing if there is a serious problem he/she/they pay the survey cost if they say no don't walk away run cause every owner knows their vessels woes. why pay for 2/3/4 survey's
just my 1/2 penny's worth
PS if is being sold through a broker do not use their surveyor find your own
