Silly marina sign

Post by bcassedy »

So I made a trip to the boat today at our marina. Pulling up to the walkway leading down to the dock is a new sign (courtesy of the marina's owner):
Stupid sign - reduced.jpg
So I guess I can take a ' quiet ' (vs 'aLOUD') gas can down to the boat??? And this wasn't just at my dock, it's at the walkway entrance of all 6 docks!
Just goes to show you folks, the marina monkeys have leaders.

Wow that reminds me of a sign a saw a few years back and I wish I would have taken a photo as evidence. It was a WET PAINT sign except it read "Wet Pain't" I guess P + ain't = Pain't. They are out there

P ain't must be with a southern accent. In Alaska we laugh at them a lot. Not with them, at them.

Nothing, those are the kind you have to use. And wear sneakers or take off your shoes so you don't make too much noise.

Just one other note about the sign....

It says that the marina will no longer fill gas cans for members of non-members....
--> so this means they (Marina) won't fill gas cans - even at their gas dock?!?!?!
--> when did they ever fill cans anywhere else? I never saw them deliver gas to any of the docks...   (just sayin'...)

... so they'll only sell (over priced) gas to people with cruisers with internal tanks??? What if a boater with an outboard needs gas in his/her external gas can(s)??? According to the sign, they'd be out of luck!

And, folks, I'm not running this to the extremes. On the phone the owner aggitatedly expressed the sentiment that "no gas cans will be filled by the marina!!!" and "no gas cans will be 'aloud' on the docks!!". And yet, several sentences later she said "you can take the gas can to the gas dock to get them filled." Say what???

- So how does this play out..... ?
-> Boater with external gas can(s) can't have marina fill his/her gas can(s).... (marina's sign so no way!)
-> Boater with external gas can(s) can't bring gas cans onto the dock...
... So, is the boater, with no other recourse, supposed to row / rig sail to get to somewhere where sanity reigns??? Long way to next fuel source....

Owner a Darwin award candidate?
