Trower, Give Acme Props a call. They will ask you for all of your boats info, then give you a recommendation. I also wanted to go to a 4 blade design, but they said that a 3 blade was the way to go for my 28. I will find out next summer. They also said that they can re-cup the props if they need a little tweaking for free.

I have bad news, my port engine has blown a head gasket and possibly worse in the number 1 cylinder. Leak down test indicates bad news. Will pull the head Monday to confirm. Also, my engine builder did not use marine felpro gaskets. You can bett Ms. STARBOARD will get them soon with new head bolts. Ms. PORT will will run but on seven cylinders. The plugs were rich, no sign of detentation or aluminum particles in the bad cylinder. Bummer! We will repair it and be back in business soon. Compression tests do not indicate high pressures all around 150psi in both motors. :o

NOOOOO, hate to hear that!! If you have closed loop cooling do you really need the felpro marine gaskets?

Damn! I hope you didn't fire slot the block and head.

Good luck.

Pulling the head on Monday May 14th. Maybe I will get lucky, a valve issue. No closed cooling.

On props I have two four blade props from Delta propeller to try, do not recall the size at the moment. They are Acme Props. Delta Propeller was Marinettes supplier of props back in the day.

I am pretty sure that big M's came stock with Michigan Wheel props. Acme uses a different blade design than the old Dyna Jet props.

Those acme props will work well on your boat. They should be 15x15.75. My buddy runs 34mph in a 32 fly bridge sedan loaded w/ factory gen set and stock 360’s. You should be able to turn them up more rpm’s and see increased speeds.

Well we pulled the heads today on Ms. PORT to find the head gasket blown on no.1 and no.2 cylinders but no piston, block, or head damage. The headbolts untorqued at 55 ft. Lbs.. they did use felpro gaskets but not their marine gaskets. So we are cleaning everything up and reinstalling with marine gaskets and new"ARP" head bolts and torque everything to the chrysler marine service manual spec.will perform a ptessure test after installation of the heads to make we are good. Thank you Lord, the motor does not have to come out.
