Thanks, I should have thought of that .I have have the dip stick, just cap is missing that keeps oil vapor from coming out.
I will take to parts store & compare.
I was thinking marine engine had a deeper oil pan but not sure.

Some marine engines have a different oil pan but most are the same. Take the old dip stick to a wrecking yard and compare.

Chrysler Marine used two different oil pans too, a steel one and a cast AL one. Don't know if dipsticks are same or not, will check my Chry Marine parts book .

The steel pan marine engines were used on i/o, jet, and bobtail installs. They use the truck pan (with an added bracket welded on the front) and use the same dipstick as most trucks. The standard inboard install uses the cast aluminum pan with its own unique dipstick and tube. I may have a dipstick if needed.

Ok, these are the part numbers straight from the Chrysler Marine parts book. For the steel pans, dipstick is #2946470, for the cast aluminum pans, it's #E9258M. The truck dipstick is likely the 2946470, so I believe the Al pan is marine only. Check Hurrikain and so if it's still available.
