Non Skid grit paint

Post by shade2u2 »

Has anyone used non-skid paint with grit in it with success?
I have some Interlux non-skid additive and another that I believe is called "shark tooth" additive. These came with the boat.
While the flybridge is off I plan to paint the floor (cab roof). I plan to lightly sand it and roll it with a foam roller.
Any advice or pointers?

John - I'm going to follow this thread. My paint is so shiny and slipery. I'm afraid of the swim platform.
Where did you get the additive?

The 2 types that I have came with the boat.
I think that paint stores sell various types of additive.
It may make sense to use the additive offered by the paint manufacturer you use.
I will probably use the Interlux Brightside paint with the Interlux additive since both came with the boat.

When I had boat repainted the painter used non-skid on the walkaround (and maybe the swim platform, too). Very effective. Sorry, can't recall the details of what he used but think it was an off the shelf product that mixed with the Awlgrip.

John, thank you. I think in the reading I've done that the customer service for the paint might b able to tell you which additive is best. I'll ask the po of my boat... he does auto painting and has done the paint On mine

Awlgrip Paint has a system. It turned out great on our boat. Would totally do it again.
