What was your outcome? I have been having some issues with my ignition and i am assuming its the advance. Im not very technical, but i dont want to get into a huge mess with modifications etc that i dont understand. Just looking for any more insight on ordering these replacements.

I bought Pertronix distributors last month. The two part numbers are D241801 (Red Cap) and D241800 (Black Cap). I believe the part number difference is the cap color.

That is correct the 00 and 01 is color of cap only. Again If I was ordering a new one I would talk with them when placing the order and tell them the dimensions on the spacer to make sure the new stock is in. Here is what the last one I ordered measured. over all length 4 inch shoulder .600 counter bore.387 chore dia 2 inch
through hole 1.250

I am just down river from you. I could help you figure it out if you need it. Across from the casino boat Rising Star you can find us a boat named the Fancy Free or Blue Monday's docked on the main river.

..."Motor get up to 2500 rpm and starts cutting out or back firing."

Mine did that and it was crossed plug wires. Try this: Using insulated gloves and pliers, pull one plug wire out of the cap at a time and note if the engine slows down. If it does, put it back in and go to the next one. When there's no change in rpm, leave that one out and look for the second one. Then switch the two.

Jeff

PS: With the wires stuffed between the valve covers and the manifolds, it's very easy to mix a few wires up.
