(Sound like a broken record...) When buying a replacement distributor, be dammed sure it will work with reverse rotating engines---the distributor HAS to be designed to absorb the upward thrust loads.

Ok I think there are some info in the archives. I have been field testing a pair of Pertronix Dist. for them. Counter Rotating engines. This is the 4th season. My startup was normal and they have run great! The reason for the field test was there were issues with corrosion on some earlier ones. Now there was some and still is some light corrosion on these but NO issue with their operation! I do clean them up spring and fall and lubricate with some light oil. (I use a commercial product called "Loosey Goosey") Funny name but great stuff. Anyway I do have pictures and info for those interested. What I like best is the ease to get to the advance. It is on top so very easy to inspect and clean. These came with several springs to adjust advance curve. I played with them but found the ones that were on it from the factory worked the best.

Now I have received no compensation other than the distributors to test. I have not financial involvement with Pertronix just reporting my findings over the past three seasons and now going into season four!

Safe Boating,

dave

I'm in the same boat as Dave I also was given a field test distributor last year with all the latest and greatest coatings on the internal parts. I have to say I had a lot of back and forth shipping because of the distributor length not being correct and I have the conversion in my old distributor with again some odd things gong on but at the end of the day the guys at Pertronix is making things right for our group and making a very good product for the price.

I returned my distributor unit (second time) because it didn't fit due to the spacer. The last tech I spoke with told me they could mod it for a small fee so it would work. This last guy told me no and that the warranty would be voided. So I sent it back.

I'm in a jam now because I did the under cap Pertronix mod and my stock distributor is a rusty mess and acting funny. I ordered a stock replacement and they balked and refunded my money. I can't find a stock distributor anywhere and I would only go with Pertronix for the distributor.

I'm pretty frustrated because these shouldnt be hard to find and Pertronix should know better than to make them with these spacers on them
