Hard to believe how little money a great boat like that can get.

I wish it was hard to believe. I finally was able to sell my boat, but only got a fraction of what I expected to get even though, between the cost of gas and the state of the economy, my expectations weren't all that high. The reality is Big M's (and most older, larger power boats) are selling at bargain basement prices now.

I am finding that most the older larger craft with the exception of Trawlers and Tugs are going for pennies on the dollar.

A fellow on my dock has a 40 FT sailboat. It is in decent shape and well equipped for an early 80's boat. He bought it and tried live aboard in Northern Kentucky. Froze is.. &(*& off. He is not a sailor and only took the boat out a couple of times damaging equipment dock, boat, etc. Decided too darn much work.

Tried to sell ... no luck so he donating it!!

He bought a Ranger Tug and will be heading to FL. (funds must not be a problem LOL)

Nice guy but not willing to learn much about boating, so I am sure another unpleasant adventure will be in his venue very soon !

I have been negotiated on a Vintage glass boat. Seller was asking 14.5 but quickly dropped to 8.5 after listing for 6 months. We are still a ways apart and now I wonder if my last offer is still too darn hi with this market. I was planning on working on her and then sell but might just get stuck with another boat!

20K and I would let my beloved M go. But that is another story.. :)

Safe holiday boating,

Dave,

Even 20K for a 28 is quite optimistic, I didn't even get that for my 88 32.
