Re: How much bilge water is acceptable?
I would like to seal off the bulkhead but have not found a product that will would seal in damp oily black tar environment.
I could get it dry but can't get to all of it because of the location of the head. 42 years of oily water & tar coating.
Any suggestions?

Re: How much bilge water is acceptable?
OK, since we have opened this "can of worms" on bulkheads, let,s talk about gas fumes passing thru the bulge to cabin area. I have always worried a little about that. Thought of closing off the holes that allow water to pass thru. If I did that I would not have any water under cabin but fo...

Re: How much bilge water is acceptable?
My 1973 /32 ft express holds water mid cabin. I have a bilge pump just aft of v birth & one between the rudders .I put a diaphragm pump mid cabin with a pick-up tube with strainer to get most of the rest. The lowest point on mine is just aft of v birth. Moisture has never been a problem. After a...

Re: Removal or interior bitumastic coating on hull
My 2 cents. I know it is a sound damping material, but I don't like it. Smells bad, holds oil. I dumped two large jugs of Dawn dish washing soap in bilge , added water and drove it around for a while. Scraped it up with wide scraper knife. Then used wet dry vacuum to get it out. Didn't get it all bu...

Re: New V-Berth Mattress
I went to Sams and got a 4" memory foam cut to shape & put on top of factory cushions. Softest bed I own. Use king size sheets.

Re: Air Conditioning
Remember we should use only boat safe heaters. I have heard of insurance company refusing to pay a fire claim because the boat owner had the wrong kind of heater. Just saying.
