Re: Marinette name plate
If your name plates are in good enough shape to piece together on a board, and your willing to share them, I will gladly make a mold and pour a set for you and myself. I have been looking for an original to use for the mold.

Re: 318 ignition system
I assume by your comments that your new distributor has the vacuum advance. If so, did you set the timing with the vacuum hooked up or disconnected? I would disconnect the vacuum advance and plug it off permanently. There is no benefit to it in a marine/industrial application, and sometimes it can c...

Re: Stantions and railing mods
Does anybody else have thin rubber gaskets between their stantion bases and deck? Mine had very thin rubber gaskets with an adhesive on one side. I don't think I have seen this on other Marinettes.

Re: Exhaust Manifold Options?
Unfortunately you have the less common manifold that was only used in the last few years of Chrysler Marine production. I do not have any of those manifolds but I believe they are available new at just under $500 each.

Re: Exhaust Manifold Options?
I should have a few good used ones. How many do you need? What style do you have?

Re: Hard Starting
The number one cause I see for this (if the carb is not a Quadrajet) is failing check valves in the fuel pumps. They will slowly syphon the fuel out of the carb and drain the pump dry.

Re: Oil Filter Adapter plug?
The only oil passage that you should have to worry about is the one for the sending unit next to the distributor.

Re: Oil Filter Adapter plug?
That plug stays in. The bypass is built into the filter housing.

Re: Carburetor Stud
They are in fact threaded into the manifold, and you got lucky if it broke off and left you something to work with. Best thing to do is grab hold of the stud with vise grips or such, heat up the casting around the base of the stud with a torch and work it back and forth until you can back it out. If...

Re: Engine Room Restoration
I repowered a 32 sedan last year with crusaders. Went surprisingly easy. Used original trans mounts and crusader front engine mounts. The only issue we had was we had to notch the frame member under the front of each engine to clear the pulley and belt on the raw water pumps. Not a big deal though.
