Aluminum Trawler

I have reached the point that I am seriously investigating a boat to do the loop in. My 29 while fantastic for day cruising and overnite.... its fuel consumption, water, and fuel capacities do not make it a practical choice for the loop. Does anyone know of any aluminum trawlers in the 30+ range bei...

Re: Painting

Oh it has made it here but NOT for the reasons some may think. (environmental) We are down to one boat yard that allows owners to work on their boats on the hard. Bottom Painting is still allowed and the yard takes no precautions when they are doing bottom stripping etc. This yard has changed owners...

Closed cooling for 305 V8

Maybe someone can provide some advise.. I am in the process of buying a Classic (glass...I know..LOL) Chris Craft Cutlass 1978. It has an OEM Chevy 305 inboard. Has anyone had experience with these engines? Does anyone know if there is a closed cooling kit for that engine? Thanks safe boating, dave

Re: Sea Cocks 32 Express Hardtop twin 318

Here is a source: http://www.forespar.com/products/boat-marine-plumbing-mushroom-scoop-strainer-thru-hull.shtml Notice they recommend using epoxy to attach the scoop to the hull. Other choice could be use the Marleon for thru hull/ and put bronze valve like a Perko or Groco, or Buck Algonquin. 1&quo...

Re: Sealed cooling system

Closed cooling is the way to go. MFG's used raw water cooling to keep costs lower and profits higher. My next repower will be closed cooling! Any boat that is used in salt closed is pretty much a must. Most do not flush raw systems after EVERY use and engines often are trashed in 5 years in FL. safe...

Re: check out this beauty

I am finding that most the older larger craft with the exception of Trawlers and Tugs are going for pennies on the dollar. A fellow on my dock has a 40 FT sailboat. It is in decent shape and well equipped for an early 80's boat. He bought it and tried live aboard in Northern Kentucky. Froze is.. &am...
