Re: ignition toggle switch replacement
What problem do you have with the switch? Are gauges coming on?

Re: 360 Chrysler running like crap cont...
Bill, I am running Mallory distributors, high voltage coils, and new 8mm plug wires. The protocol is to use standard plugs and gap. I am on year 4 with the Champion 9 heat range. They all looked good a month ago. I changed the plugs to the 12 heat range as recommended by many. No ballast resistor. Y...

Re: 360 Chrysler running like crap cont...
I have to admit I bailed on the Pertronix trial run. I was the first one to contact their engineering department because of corrosion. I did two trial runs for them. After second failed distributor I got tired of working for free and bailed. I wasted my money on them. I installed Mallory distributor...

Re: 28 hardtop express idleing problem
Ballast resister may be bad. We still don't know what year your boat is  When it dies does it crank back up ok? It may be time for you to upgrade your ignition system to a modern system. A new distributor would eliminate a lot of problem areas. Lots of threads on here and on marineengines.com ...

Re: 28 hardtop express idleing problem
First off, welcome to our forum Mike! We are going to need a little more info from you. First go to the top right of the page click on your user name, go to user control pnl, profile, edit signature, then put a signature with all your boat info like the rest of us. I am going to guess that the idle ...

Re: Manifold vacuum 15
Amazing what a simple vacuum guage will tell you. Need to compare my sbd engine. Timing is at 5*. Carb idle is set for max vacuum. Don't think it's a vacuum leak because the reading would be lower. She holds steady at 15hg. I hooked a vacuum on it about 5yrs ago and I think it was at 20hg. Need to d...

Manifold vacuum 15
1985 318 manifold vacuum reading is 15. Reading that 15 is normal for some high performance engines. Not sure if the old marine 318s are in that category. The engine is harder to start than my other one.
