Re: Fuel Filter

Alright got it off, Perko 299, one has a something resembling a filter in it, the other has nothing, hence all the trash in the carb. Does anyone still use these, nice housing seems a shame not to put them back in service? Those Perko filters use a ceramic cartridge, good for many years of service,...

Re: Raw water system diagnosis

Since you found rubber in the oil cooler the next immediate step was to pull the impellers because that's where the rubber would have come from. I suspect enough damage to cause your water flow issue. The other clue is that there is overflow at the strainer. That should never happen with a properly ...

Re: raw water sea strainer replacement

The port has always been hard to get sealed and I ended up using clear silicone around the edge and that worked but is a PITA Now the other side is doing the same. It looks like the edge that the gasket rest on is starting to lose the sharp edge and letting the gasket sit at an angle.JB Are you sur...

Re: Window track channel

For long term use, aluminum is the better choice. Don't forget to make sure you have sufficient drain holes at the exterior ends of the channels to prevent water from running back into the cabin. John Althouse used to have lots of the polyglide in the correct width - don't know who stocks it The pla...

Re: Potting Compound Melting

I don't think a warm day would cause your problem. In our region, 90 degree days on the water are common. Your aluminum hatches are also reflecting heat and shouldn't be cooking the bilge unless you've painted them black. Something is going on in the electrical circuitry. If you have a laser temp gu...

Re: 32 sedan bridge - location & accessing shower pan pump/reservoir

Mine ('88 FBS) was very accessible and easy to swap out (but never had to). It's under the floor boards in the entry way to the v-berth. Lift the carpet and you'll see a board with a finger hole, lift and there she is. A very small capacity pump will do the job. I'm thinking that the float switch is...

Re: cabin windows leaky

Do they drain adequately? Check for debris and if water is trapped in the outer groove, cut off a little piece of the portion that will promote better drainage to the outside.

And remember, there's a limit to wheel diameter. Too wide and it hits the hull. Bad
