Re: Motor refit
Got them directly from Marinette with new bearings, did take about a month and was a bit pricey but original equipment. Kept the old set for future reference.

Re: Motor refit
Unless there is a specific reason for wanting outboards, I'd be willing to bet you could put rebuilt engines, transmissions, new struts and cutless bearings in cheaper with a lot less headaches. With close to the same reliability.

Re: Gauges
Replacing my gauges is on the agenda too. In keeping with the vintage look I've considered the Moal Bomber Series, even called Classic Instruments with my non marine concerns. They told me when I was ready to pull the trigger call them and they would epoxy coat the circuits making them "marine&...

Re: Worth Buying? 76' 37 foot sedan
Pictures were fine. I would approach him with I'm not trying to insult you but your boat is worth half of your asking price, at best. She sewing and you sanding-painting can save a good bit, you start going into those engines and you're going to spend a fortune. Ask if and when the exhaust manifolds...

How much? Personally I would go into it as total restoration. If you can get it cheap and are a handy person go for it. If the owner is emotionally attached, not willing to part with cheap, and you're going to have to hire out the repairs, your in for an expensive venture.

Re: Salon floor upgrade
Did something very similar, used 5/8" wood grain tiles from Rubber Flooring Inc, trimmed them with a band saw and put a hallway runner on top. Looks good, feels good and as mentioned above if it gets stained or worn throw it out and start over, cheap.

Fuel Sending Unit
Does anyone have any experience in changing out a manual fuel gauge, mine is mounted on the top of the tank, no electrical. Sure it's original to the boat and long past its service life. Went all the way below E when I drained the tank, back up to a 1/4 with 35 gallons, has not moved since burning t...

Re: Old gas
Drained mine while it was in the yard, pulled the fuel out from the cut off valve. Had a tank in the back of the truck with a small vane pump.

Mr. Cool, 866-726-2665, they were a little cheaper and threw in the shipping.

Re: Looking for an engine rebuilder in Cleveland
Have one just outside of Atlanta, Ball Machine 770-279-7881. Did two 318's for me, so far the engines themselves have run perfectly, it's the other stuff, lots of little, frustrating, stuff. All things considered it's not to bad and not unexpected, frustrating.
