Re: Pair of 1990 360's

Thanks Jeff. That's what I thought. At that point you're building a new boat.

Re: Pair of 1990 360's

Maybe this is the wrong thread, but I wonder what it would take to add an Armstrong (or similar) bracket to the transom of a 32 and mount a pair of 250 +/- hp outboards. I'm guessing for those of us with no welding skills there may be no ROI, but it might make sense if the old engines are shot and m...

Re: Looking for Port Side Helm Seat, Stand, Wall Bracket and Footrest.

It would not be hard to re-create. Those seats are just two pieces of 5/8" plywood held by two brackets, add upholstery and install the mounting hardware on the port side and the bracket for the support on the bottom and you're done. If, like me, you have no upholstery skills a decent shop can ...

Re: the last one is up for sale !

That's not surprising. For a solid 44' boat with 3208s, the asking price was within reason. I wonder if the Admiral and I could handle something that big. Painting the bottom on a 28 isn't too bad, but a 44 might take me a few days! Maybe a 32 B layout or a 37 sedan is in our future. (That 34 looks ...

Re: Early Marinette questions

You might also consider a V-6. I've seen them used for sterndrives (Mercury advertises a 4.5 liter) so there would be good parts availability. It would have more horsepower than that old gray marine and have two less cylinders to feed. There are some 28s with twin GM 4.3L engines. I've never seen on...

If you decide to sell, there will be interest. For a cruising couple a B layout might be ideal. Good luck.

Re: Interesting question on AL re

That seems tricky. Though it might be hard to source a new strut you may find that easier—someone parting out an old M or even having a new one fabricated—mighty be the shorter route. I bent my starboard strut on a submerged log, bought a new one from John Althouse and it was still labor intensive t...

Re: CW rotation Build

Thanks. I thought I read that somewhere. I suppose it's not an issue for those who spend big $$ with duo prop outdrives or IPS. There you spend north of a grand if you damage one. It's much easier to deal with shafts and struts. (Though I did spend quite a bit for a new strut several years ago.)

Re: CW rotation Build

Maybe I'm thinking about this too late and it's a silly question, but here goes: Why not have both engines run the same way and have the tranny run backwards on one side?

Re: For those into nostalgia !

Thanks for the nostalgia. A list price of $150k in 2021 for a new 32 sedan would be a bargain. A new similar sized Regal is double that and a Tiara triple. I remember those brochures from the 1970s--they changed the layout of the 32 sedan in the late 70s, but the pictures of the other boats were the...
