Re: Hull design
It's all in how she's trimmed. I can change speed about 6mph just with the trim tabs. It is VERY sensitive to trim.

Re: Hull design
I can definitely attest to that. Last season, with one fresh 318 and one with one foot in the grave, I could still maintain 33mph (gps) at just shy of wide open. Its nice to be able to keep up with all your friends in runabouts!Fastjeff wrote:Ah, but the older hulls are fast!

Re: Need an Engine
The flywheel will be marked on the chamfered edge, right near your damper plate visible in your picture. It will be marked top dead, and I think around 15 degrees each direction (so that the same flywheel will work with either rotation). It is small and hard to see. You will most likely have to rota...

capac sensor
Is there a source for a replacement hull sensor for the capac system? I have been searching all over the www and have come up empty handed.

Hull design
Right now I am in the process of rebuilding a swim platform for my '72 32 foot express. In the process of this, I took measurements from the other 32 Ms at my marina (we have 6 on the hard right now) to get an idea of where to mount it. This had me scratching my head as all the measurements I took f...

Re: Need an Engine
After you did the pertronix conversion, did you check the timing? I have seen timing changes of almost 10 degrees just by installing these kits. Not all the time, but at least 3 or 4 times a year.

Re: Fuse block in engine bay?
Most of the boats that I work on built into the late 1970s still used white as DC negative and AC neutral. Green is usually bonding and ground, but I have seen green for many other circuits as well. My '72 uses dark green for water, light green for blowers and dark green for shore power ground. All ...

Re: Fuse block in engine bay?
My 72 is set up like railrunner04 said. About a 8 or 10 gauge green, red and black with white grounds all run to my bow right by the water tank. Green is potable water, red is forward bilge pump and black is an accessory wire on mine. This is all very fresh in my mind as I just completed a complete ...

Re: more re-wire gutting updating cursing and drinking
Did your boat originally have PVC? I have a 72 that has a thin wall alluminum pipe running from the cockpit floor to the ceiling. Then another short piece from the roof to under the flybridge dash. With alluminum pipe you could have the strength you need and a larger I.D. for a given O.D.
