Re: Hull Plugs

This query is way off the boating topic but is related to threads so while you're in a thread frame of mind, I'll ask: I am screwing some galvanized pipe together (to mount my my backyard weather station) and want to freeze the fitting in place once I've adjusted them. Would that be pipe dope or som...

Re: Waste Tank - 1989 32 Sedan Flybridge

One of those two top side fittings never appeared to be connected to anything and I have read that other owners had the same experience. Can't recall whether it was the fwd or aft one. The only wayi t appeared to get a peek was to remove v-berth side panels.

Re: Hull Plugs

On my 1988 32' FBS, there was a plug a little aft of midship, near the keel and one under the fwd v berth on the stbd side. It's easy to check when the boat is out of the water

What is a mag. anode? Is it magnesium? If it works in fresh water, why wouldn't it work in salt water? Thanks for all your input. I'm listening. . I'm not up for the scientific explanation at this hour but wanted to comment on your question. Salt water is a better conductor of electricity than fres...

Re: ultrasonic antifouling system

Seriously thought about buying a system at the boat show once and decided against it because I couldn't find any user endorsements (in that pre-internet era). I was also leary of claims that low freq sounds discourage barnacles.

Re: Rescue Tape

I looked it up -- it's the self-fusing tape you stretch then wrap around an object so it overlaps. It has a tenacious grip on itself and is durable. Yes, it's pricey - especially when you buy it from a booth at the boat show -- but it's legit and when you need it you don't care about the price. I th...

Assume you will sand (or glass bead) blast the bottom. I did and got very good results. got the first etch/primer coat on as soon as the sandblast crew finished and once that was done, could relax til the rest of the coats were applied. I got a 5 mph jump in speed after repainting (though your milea...

Re: Dinette Restoration Complete

Labor of love, well done. Want to pass along a little thing I did - for the flip down access storage area under the table: Built two little open top boxes to fit under there. Used a string for a handle, making it easy to pull them out but you could cut out a hand slot just as easily. Oherwise, that ...

Re: Transport nightmare

The same thing is true in the furniture moving business since dreaded fedl regulation was pared back. Once the watchdogs were called off, the wolves went wild. Sounds like you had a successful outcome. Who did you wind up using? How was their service? Who damaged the keel per your other post? WIll t...
