Have a 32 Express also with a deck plate that could stand a replacement, key in clear deck plate on Google, the fuel gauge assembly is available from McMaster-Carr.

Re: Soliciting advice on how to pull my engines.

Several years ago a friend pulled the engines in his houseboat, he basically disassembled the engines down to the blocks to eliminate weight. Then he and several good ol' boys man handled the blocks out. Back breaking but cheap. Went back in the same way, 350's.

Re: need a recommendation on mechanic near lake lanier

In the same boat, when I bought mine it had run only once in three years, although it did crank and ran rather well I've had nothing but problems with it ever sense. The dilemma I currently face is redo the heads on the starboard engine or bite the bullet and re-power. The re-power option is what I'...

Re: Re-power 318 to 360

Not overly concerned about the extra HP, well within spec's for 71c's, main concern is fitment and ease of swap, don't want to get into the nightmare of custom a fit for a few extra HP. One concern is the flywheels, plan on going back with new Arco Starters and want to be sure they have the correct ...

Re-power 318 to 360

Can 360's be used in place of 318's? Think I'm at the point of seriously considering a re-power, fixed one engine and now having problems with the other. Before any more money is spent I'm of the opinion cut your losses, bite the bullet and replace them. That moves me to the 360 question, I think th...

Re: MerCruiser Repower question

Just purchased this book off Amazon, good tip. After buying an old Marinette I've had some on going engine issues and the subject of re power is in the back of my mind. From everything researched a stock application is hard to beat, adding 10%-20% hp is doable but anything over that you begin to run...

Re: Oil Plug

Well to confirm the oil plug is on the front of the pan. After a lot of considerations I decided not to install the hose, one of the biggest fears was with the age I might very well pull the threads out along with the plug. If the day comes for a re power think I'll look into installing a fitting on...

Re: Oil Plug

Agree on the tap, the collar you make reference to is known as a bulkhead fitting, only problem there is pan removal.
