Re: Exhaust manifold temp
Starboard manifold is brand new, port was cleaned when the heads were off. Had really never paid much attention to the Rube Goldberg hose assembly until now and am surprised it ever cooled. Flushed the lines when I had the pump off and no obstruction there. Would like to know what an acceptable temp...

Exhaust manifold temp
Well, it's been a long summer already, having the ongoing problem (over a year now) getting rid of a miss. Reworked heads, rebuilt distributer, on and on. Had a new mechanic look at the boat Tuesday and thought we had made progress except after running for about thirty minutes at the dock, I found t...

Engine dies when transmission engaged.
Good evening to all, My son took his 1977 37', twin 360 sedan out this past weekend and after a successful short cruise, drifted for a while. Both engines restarted but the port died immediately when put into gear, both forward and reverse, regardless of the rpm. Restarted numerous times with no pro...

Re: Reverse rotation?
EW
I have a Velvet Drive 1-1 transmission. If I'm understanding this correctly, rotation is determined facing aft to stern, which in that case I do indeed have reverse drive.

Re: Reverse rotation?
Perhaps I'm looking at this from the wrong end of the boat. My prop turns clockwise when looking forward. Prop is stamped R.
Always figured on a single engine, this was normal.

Re: Reverse rotation?
Evening guys,
My 72 28' single 318, helm on starboard side, is standard, rh rotation. (When the damn things running)
May be on the road to recovery, I'll let you know.
Regards to all,
Rockxx

Re: Sight glass for fuel gauge
The piece I'm searching for is a round, perhaps 3-4" diam, chrome ring with a glass insert, slightly rounded, looks like it has some magnification. Mounts to the deck with screws. Nothing I'm finding at the marine suppliers is what I'm looking for.

Sight glass for fuel gauge
Evening all, Was looking at a 32' express at my sons dock a few weeks ago and noticed it had a glass fixture over the hole in the deck were the fuel gauge is read on the boats without electric fuel gauges, such as mine. If anyone is aware of were one of these could be found I really would like to kn...

Re: Gray marine 401 engine
Metalhead,
I have no interest, thought that at that price someone could salvage some parts they might be having trouble finding.
Is this the aluminum block like the two you're rebuilding?

Gray marine 401 engine
In trolling the local craigslist I found a 1962 Grey Marine 401 cubic inch motor for sale for $ 300.00. Motor is complete including carb and in looking at the photo, appears to have the transmission attached. Supposed to be the Buick block. Metalhead I believe this is the motor you like so thought s...
