I run with my port hole windows open but I have "phifetexb plus" material in the screens. Lets air in but keeps 99 percent water out. I don't have big water in Tennessee river like you have but may work for you.
I will send you a sample if you like. Product comes from Sailrite.

Always heard that once wirring has been under water you will have a lot of problems. Don't forget one fuel tank will have water in it too.

Don't know what year you have but I ran into a problem with the leaver on pump that runs on cam is different on older 318. Fastjeff could tell ya more.

I learned my lesson too . Had spin/on filters & went back to stock per Fastjeff advise. Mine get hard to open sometimes & I but some "bead blaster lub" on it & come back and unscrew it off. The plug at bottomj is where you drain water out. You may need to use a pipe wrench to h...

I just had a set done for my starbord engine. Machine shop bill was $294. Valve job w/new valves, magaflux and weld crack, Dover cylindler head service. Chattanooga & Atlanta.
