Re: 41' '88 Marquis - General questions on

Bill, I have a double cabin 41 from 1988. My exhaust is not partially submerged, but might be if it was full of fuel and full of water. Fuel is 350 gallons (2000 pounds) under the rear bed. Water is 150 gallons (1200 pounds) under the salon floor. I also believe the boat you are looking at took on s...

Re: Advice/tricks to accessing water pumps on 1986 39DC with twin 454’s

I usually open the engine hatch and lay on the floor to reach the hose clamps and mounting bolts. It is easiest to remove the pump and work on it outside the engine compartment. Because of the tight quarters, be careful not to catch your sleeve/clothing or a rag on the fire suppresion halon system s...

Re: Water out of spark plugs hole.

Put some oil back in it and see if it will run. After about 10 or 15 minutes, check for water in the oil. It is unlikely water will show in the oil that fast unless you have a cracked head or block. If you have access to a leak down tester, it will find the leak source. Remove all the spark plugs. R...

Re: Water out of spark plugs hole.

I don't think that is necessary. Just try to start the engines with plenty of water available to the strainer or water pump. Water slipping past the exhaust valves is often referred to as reversion. At certain rpm, the exhaust can set up a harmonic where the water from the exhaust can be condensed b...

Re: Galvonic Isolator- Where and how is it connected?

I think you are talking about the capac galvanic corrosion meter - correct? There is a galvanic current isolator used in the incoming 120 vac power line to prevent current leakage on the green ground wire of the shore power cable. On the galvanic isolator device, only the green ground wire goes in a...

Re: Water out of spark plugs hole.

Did you use a big breaker bar to try to rotate the engine. Sometimes you might need a breaker bar with a pipe extension to get enough turning power. You might also try rocking the engine back and forth with the breaker bar. Good luck. Is the name of this boat Legend? I remember seeing it at Jamestow...

Re: Dinette parquet, looking for a section

I need some squares as well. I spilled antifreeze on the floor and I think a lot of the parquet might release from the floor. I don't know if I can reglue it. I would like to buy about 20 squares (6 inch by 6 inch.

Re: Changing Habits with age

Yes, my boat is at State Dock. To my knowledge, there is only one other 41 Marinette on Lake Cumberland. Marinettes are great for Lake Cumberland. Fibereglass boats tend to blister and delaminate on Cumberland -- somethings about the water. Aluminum hulled Marinettes just keep on floating. I hope yo...

Changing Habits with age

In the 1990's, we had a 32 FB Marinette. Kept it on Lake Cumberland, KY. We could not wait to get there on Friday night and head out to find a cove to tie up with our friends for the weekend. The cove was usually 15 miles away and we tied across the cove with ropes for security in case a storm brewe...
