Re: Boating checklist

An amendment to your equation: The paddling distance is directly related to the distance one's boat is from the dock when it dies.

Re: Fuel System Restoration: Tanks to Carbs...

Sheesh! That's too complicated for me--I'm a simple man.

I put about ten gallons in each tank and messed with the adjustments (angle and location on the rod) until they just said "E".

Re: First Post, First Boat, 32' Sedan

You'll always feel vibration in an inboard boat since the shock waves coming off the ends of the prop blades impact the bottom of the boat. That's the nice thing about outdrives--the shock waves are dissipated into the air.

Re: Fuel System Restoration: Tanks to Carbs...

When I changed the gages in mine, I deliberately set them up so there was at least 10 gallons of gas in the tanks on 'E'. I know; it's only a psychological thing, but it helps when the marina is a long way off.

Hah! I was exhausted after paddling my 12 footer a 1/4 mile back to the ramp after the battery terminal broke off (the dirty *~!^)

A 2001 aft cabin 44 footer!

Jeff (in my dreams. Actually, a 19 foot bow rider. Grandkids love tubing behind it.)

Re: Fastjeffs boat??

In 2015. A gentleman in Georgia bought it sight unseen--talk about faith! The truck ride from Maryland may have bounced a few loose connections and etc. Had trouble getting Mr. Starboard to fire up--and it was always my most reliable motor. Re: Boating checklist

And be sure to shut the breaker OFF at the boat's switch panel--and even if your slip has a shut off there as well. (In the heat of the moment one can forget things, right?). You'd be surprised at the size of the arc plugging that cord back in will generate with the AC, refrigerator, battery charger...
