"I’ll have to cut into the door to find out..."
Pretty sure you can tell plywood by looking at the edge without making a fresh cut. All the doors on my 1972 are plywood, stained and varnished, as they should be. A thin panel of solid wood would be very likely to warp badly.

Re: Nightmare
I've never seen a "dry dock". Our marinas take the boats out of the water and store them on land (The Hard) on jack stands for the winter. Some brave souls leave their boats in and use bubblers to keep the water moving. Winter storage here is about $500.

Re: Grill mount
I clamped mine to the tubing upright that supports the rail. Fittings from Magma.
This also keeps the grill inboard enough that it doesn't become a fender.

So far it looks like the only thing toasted is the Sherwood water pump. Maybe the muffler. For anyone who has not seen the inside of a Sherwood pump, here's one of the toasted impellers on the left, a spare on the right. My engines didn't have a temp switch. They will in future. Fortunately, I looke...

I use zinc chromate in a spray can. First vinegar spray then that washed off with distilled water. It is green.
Used to buy it from my marina but now that is outlawed. Only supposed to sell it to professionals. The workaround is to buy it on Amazon.

Fresh water strainers
There's a lot of grass in our river this year, and sheared off pieces of it floating in the water. I got a plugged cooling water intake on one engine while going through a pair of big locks. Overheated that engine and shut it down when blue smoke billowed up from the exhaust. I tied up to the canal ...

Another grounding vulnerability is the connection of the starter to the block. I have had trouble once with the red wire connections being dirty.

Re: window hardware
Are you talking about sliding windows? I have those on the sides of my cabin. I bought 2 in diameter glass discs from a lab supply and applied them with silicone. Works great. They are about 1/4 thick.
