Re: 1977 37 ft Sedan Bridge - Electrical fault

Thanks so much, Karl! Appreciate all your help here. I'll start a thread in the drivetrain section as soon as I can get down and investigate a little more first. Need to also get into the steering a bit so will be posting there as well.

Happy holidays!

Andrew

Re: 1977 37 ft Sedan Bridge - Electrical fault

Thanks GB49! Really great to hear about the '76 that you worked on as a comparable. Haven't started flipping those switches, but I did find the problem!! First, to answer your question, she has two "marine" 12 volt batteries and a third 12v battery that's more of an automotive size. Not su...

Re: 1977 37 ft Sedan Bridge - Electrical fault

Hi Bigarrn, That's good to hear! So they are original after all.

I'm trying to understand the purpose of the larger switches and the adjacent toggle switches to help diagnose some electrical issues I'm having.

Re: 1977 37 ft Sedan Bridge - Electrical fault

Darn - was hoping it would look familiar! The lack of labels is... fun?

Re: 1977 37 ft Sedan Bridge - Electrical fault

Here's a photo of the switches in the engine bay. The right/starboard switch was switched off. The left/port switch is in fact on even though it is pointing to off (the switch and label/plate are not aligned).

Re: 1977 37 ft Sedan Bridge - Electrical fault

Thanks Jeff and GB49, really appreciate it. Good points about the trickle chargers and to watch for gassing and potentially remove for charging. Need to investigate the battery charging system a bit more and go through the grounds as Jeff suggested. The starboard "battery switch" had been ...

This is fantastic, invaluable really. Thank you for posting these here! Much needed and much appreciated.

Any idea what years the "Old Owners Manual" would apply to?

Re: 1977 37 ft Sedan Bridge - Electrical fault

UPDATE: Tested the batteries, all good except the starboard read 0! So you were right, the battery was the problem. It must have drained when I left the ignition on? Can't understand why it affects all the other things and why the port side would be fine, unless that switch in the engine bay is rela...
